The destination: A freshly brewed cup of locally grown coffe, on a traditional farm, listening to the chirping of endemic birds and the rustling of the leaves of the surrounding forest…this is the daily morning routine in the Colombian coffee region, also called coffee triangle. Just like the nearby famous hot spot Medellin, the entire western Colombian Andean region is rooted in tradition, at the same time open minded, aiming to transform society and to create a bright future.
The people: Paisas ['paj sas] = coloquial way to refer to the people living in this region, are such friendly, welcoming and well educated people, who will make you feel right at home.
Typical food: Bandeja paisa [ban 'de xa 'paj sa] = different types of meat and sausage, beans, egg, avocado, sweet plantain, rice, arepa
Fun fact: Medellín was the first place in the world to fully integrate cable cars into its urban metro system.
